Motoped Cruzer

With the versatility of a moped, the styling DNA of a motorcycle, and the DIY ability of a bicycle, Motoped aims to stand out from the crowd. We think it’s got a good chance.

When its 49cc engine-powered, you won’t be breaking any speed records, but you will be able to get between 150 and 200 miles on just one gallon of gas. If you’re in need of exercise, pedal away. Modeled after the board-track racers of the early 1900s, the Cruzer features an elongated brushed steel tank, billet aluminum and brass accents, genuine wood fenders, and a comfortable spring-seat wrapped in bomber-jacket leather.

Other features include 165mm square tapered aluminum crank arms, real wood fenders with matching tank trim, a 1.3 gallon brushed stainless steel fuel tank, and a double heat treated 6061 aluminum swing arm.

Expert: China Should Have Four Aircraft Carriers

To date there has been no official comment on the question whether China will build its second aircraft carrier or not.

However, on August 29, 2013, Yang Yujun, spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defense said at a regular press conference that the Liaoning is China's first aircraft carrier, but will definitely not be the only one.

Military expert Cao Weidong said that China pursues a defensive national defense policy and four aircraft carriers are appropriate. Aircraft carriers are typically required for training, maintenance and duty. If China has four aircraft carriers, with two in the South China Sea and two in northern China, they can better accomplish their missions.
The displacement of an aircraft carrier will greatly affect its combat capability. A 60,000 ton ship can carry from 30 to 40 fighters, while a 100,000 ton vessel can carry between 70 and 80 fighters. Carriers of 60,000 to 80,000 tons are appropriate for China's needs at present. China has no need to build 100,000 tonners or larger carriers, like the United States.

Launched in Sept. 2012, the Liaoning, China's only aircraft carrier, has served more than two years. In May 2013, China's first carrier-based air force was established and completed its first joint training. In 2014, Liaoning returned to Dalian for a four-month overhaul.

Canada Developing New Assault Rifle Concept

An assault rifle concept that combines firepower and smart integrated accessories that connect to command and control networks is being developed in Canada.

Defense Research and Development Canada said the current prototype weapon developed with Colt Canada features a firing mechanism to shoot lightweight cased telescoped ammunition, a secondary effects module for increased firepower and a NATO standard power and data rail for integration of electro-optical sights and position sensors.

It also has a secondary effects module for installing a 40mm grenade launcher or 12-gauge shotgun.
"In the medium term, this weapon concept represents a lethal, flexible general-purpose platform," said Lieutenant-Col. Serge Lapointe, from the Soldier Systems group, Director Land Requirements, Soldier Systems of the Canadian Army. "It will be able to operate in all theaters of operations in the most complex terrain, including urban areas, mountains, jungles, deserts and the Arctic."

DRDC said the next development phase for the rifle will involve integration of electronic components to allow a soldier to send or receive data from a command-and-control network and for automated target detection and assisted target engagement.

Iran Unveils Indigenous Supersonic Fighter Jet

Iran's Defense Ministry has unveiled a new domestically-built advanced supersonic trainer fighter jet, named Saeqeh 2 (Thunderbolt 2).

The double-cockpit supersonic Saeqeh 2 fighter jet has been designed and manufactured by experts and engineers of Defense Ministry's Aerospace Industries Organization and in cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF), Iran's Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami said on Monday.

The fighter jet will do close-range cover and backup tactical missions as well as advanced pilot training missions, he added.

The commander noted that the new jet is the second generation of Saeqeh model which has been manufactured with enhanced combat capabilities.

The aircraft has been equipped with Electro Avionics systems and advanced weapons to enhance the training of pilots.
Hatami added that the plane is capable of engaging in intense aerial missions.

The unveiling ceremony comes on the 8th day of the ten-day celebrations commemorating the 36th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

Saeqeh was unveiled as a prototype in 2004 and later became operational in 2006. The jet is Iran’s second domestically-developed fighter with many calling it the Iranian F-18.

The bomber has the ability to track down enemy aircraft, engage in combat, target locations on the ground, and carry a load of assorted weapons and ammunition.
In the recent years, Iran has made great achievements in the defense sector and gained self-sufficiency in essential military hardware and defense systems.

The country has repeatedly announced that its defense might does not pose any threat to other countries as Iran's defense doctrine is totally based on deterrence.

The Universal Soldier - Platform-M

Russia is continuing development work on a range of innovative automated machines to optimize the performance of its armed forces in the field. The army is successfully using a whole range of machines and some technical models are being tested.

In November the Russian Defense Ministry reiterated its intention to develop robotic systems and use them for military purposes. According to the ministry, the robots will begin actively "storming" the army in 2017-2018, and by 2025 approximately 30 percent of all military technology in the Russian Armed Forces will consist of robotic hardware. However, development work on many robots is virtually complete, and a number of them are already in service.
The universal soldier: Platform-M
Platform-M is the latest robotic combat system, created to fight without entering into contact with the opponent. Its creators say the system is a universal combat unit, capable of carrying out reconnaissance and patrol missions, as well as guarding important sites.

Thanks to its weaponry, Platform-M can also be used as gun support. Its aiming mechanism works automatically, without human assistance. Platform-M may be a miniature robot but it is a fierce one: It is armed with a grenade launcher and a machine gun. "The little one" has already proven itself during drills in Kaliningrad last summer and is now being introduced to the armed forces.
